While this isn’t quite an Exorcist for a new generation, it did strangely remind me of the Jonathan Pryce “Exorcist” stage Hamlet from 1980, in which he is possessed by the ghost of his father, which wasn’t entirely inaccurate.
The film’s presentiments and horror conspiracies are heavily influenced by other horror films, such as Don’t Look Now and Rosemary’s Baby, which were used as inspiration. It might alternatively be thought of as a death-metal version of Ingmar Bergman’s Cries and Whispers.

Jay realizes that death will come either as a friend or as a stranger to her at some point in the future. When Jay’s pals don’t believe her hysterical rants, they begin to see the phantom assassins and form a group to aid her in either fleeing or defending herself.
It Follows pays respect to the original horror films while maintaining consistent suspense, with heart pounding soundtrack that finally delivers a scary horror thriller.

Definitely. In an era when the horror genre lacks quality, this is a welcome addition. Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween are obvious influences on this 1970’s-style horror film. The lead, Maika Monroe, gives an excellent performance, despite some sluggishness in the rest of the cast. For horror movie enthusiasts, and a 96% rating, this is a must-see.

12. The Exorcist (1973)
Largely inspired by true events, this narrative of an exorcism became one of the most successful horror films ever made. The movie that started a new era in horror films and remains one of the scariest experiences of one generation.
Doctors can’t find anything wrong with Regan (Linda Blair), so her mother (Ellen Burstyn) tries to get medical care for her daughter. Jason Miller, a local priest, on the other hand, believes that the girl is being held hostage by the devil. The church agrees to send an exorcist (Max von Sydow) to assist the priest with the difficult task of performing an exorcism.
It’s been 40 years since the release of this film, but it’s still one of the scariest of all time. It’s a must-see if you’re a fan of recent “possession pictures”. It’s going to make the rest of them seem bad.

The presence of what looks to be a supernatural being begins to trouble Katie and Micah soon after they move into their suburban tract home, played by Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, respectively. Despite being a low-budget horror film, Paranormal Activity has become a cult classic. When a young couple buys a video camera to explore strange phenomena that have been happening in their home, the film employs the discovered footage method.
The writing is superb, and it has a very genuine quality to it. It also does a fantastic job of escalating the tension and drama in each scene. In Paranormal Activity, blood-chilling terrors and horrific images make for a really terrifying encounter.

17. The Descent
The psychological bonds between the women are meticulously established in this sporadically successful UK horror film, which ultimately squanders this calibrated and mostly realistic setup with a sequence of crass, illogical, and scattered horror effects.
Sarah (Shauna Macdonald) travels to North Carolina a year after a traumatic experience to spend time with her friends exploring caves. While exploring the caverns, the women discover weird cave drawings and traces of a previous trip. They soon discover that they are not alone. Crevasses in the ground are home to predators who feed on human flesh.
In any case, The Descent is a fantastic film, with strong female characters who are loyal to one another while also being distrustful of one another. The film’s cave settings alternate between being horrifying and breathtaking.
